Northern has announced that are bolstering their services to help passengers in Cheshire get to their destination during this weekend’s strike action.
For the first time at an RMT strike, Northern will be offering an hourly service between Chester and Altrincham, the hourly service will run from between 7.30am and 6.30pm, giving passengers in the county improved choices for travelling into Manchester.
There are also enhancements for customers travelling between Liverpool and Warrington Central, with the service extended through to Manchester Oxford Road. This hourly service will start shortly before 9 am from Manchester and from 10.30am from Liverpool.

What did the officials say?
Sharon Keith, our Regional Director, said: “We’ve developed our strike timetables to give customers the best possible choice and flexibility and are now able to offer good links between three great northern cities.”
Sharon added: “We will operate more rail services than ever before for a Saturday RMT strike and are doing everything we can to keep the north of England on the move.”
“Anyone who is planning to travel using our services on Saturday should plan ahead carefully and allow extra time for any journeys. All services will be busy and, in some cases, may not follow the usual stopping patterns.”
