The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, in West Yorkshire, has announced that it is to host a visit from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, who is the wife of His Royal Highness Prince Charles (Prince of Wales), will be visiting the 5-mile long heritage railway on Friday 16th February 2018.
The KWVR is celebrating their 50th Anniversary of the railway opening in 2018. They are also celebrating the achievements of volunteers during this time.
During her visit, Her Royal Highness will be visiting the locomotive works at Haworth to meet the new generation of volunteers working on steam locomotive restorations.
Featuring in the classic film, The Railway Children, which was filmed at the Keighley and Worth Valley, the Old Gentlemen’s Saloon will be used to transport Her Royal Highness by steam train to Oxenhope.

Matthew Stroh, Chairman of the KWVR Preservation Society said, “We are delighted to be hosting a visit from Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall in our 50th Anniversary year. Our volunteers work incredibly hard to preserve our railway heritage and are excited to showcase their efforts”

From the KWVR website: Security checks will be in operation during the visit and we will continually liaise with the appropriate authorities to ensure robust security measures are in place. Haworth Railway Station car park will be closed on Friday 16th February for the visit. Alternative parking will be available a very short drive from the station. Please follow the signs displayed on the day.
