Arriva Trains Wales has announced that a vital piece of lifesaving equipment has been stolen from Bridgend railway station.

The defibrillator was stolen sometime between 7th and 9th of February 2018 from its case on Platform 2 of the South Wales station.

Witnesses are urged to contact the British Transport Police.

The public access defibrillator has played a crucial part in keeping people save, only a couple of months ago it helped save the life of a man who had collapsed a short distance away from the station.

Bridgend is Wales’ fifth busiest station and in 2016/17 it saw more than 1.5 million passengers pass through.

What did the officials say that?

Sgt Stephen Dawkins of the BTP said: “This was a mindless theft of emergency lifesaving equipment which could be crucial to saving lives.

“The fact it did save a life not so long ago it testament to just what an important part it plays not just on the station but in the community too.

“If you do know anything at all about this theft please contact the BTP on 0800 40 50 40.”

Thomas Owens, who manages Bridgend Station for Arriva Trains Wales added: “The defibrillator is key to saving lives. We know that if you suffer a heart attack, getting medical attention quickly is crucial, so we were all bitterly disappointed at this theft and would call on anyone who might know something to contact the BTP.”
