The railway line between Preston and Blackpool South is on track to reopen tomorrow (Monday 29th January 2018). This is after planned as the first phase of the Blackpool Railway Revolution is completed.
The line, operated by Northern, was shut back in November 2017 to allow major upgrade work to take place as part of the multi-billion pound Great North Rail Project.
Improvements to the line include new signalling, better track layout, and electrification to Blackpool North.
The line to Blackpool North will remain shut whilst work continues into the spring whilst the remaining equipment is installed.
For timetables, please see the Northern website.
What did the officials say on the reopening of the line to Blackpool South?
Sharon Keith, Regional Director for Northern, said: “This is great news for our customers in and around Blackpool and we look forward to welcoming them back onto the railway on Monday.
She added, “The completion of the work on this line is a landmark moment and I’d like to thank our customers for the patience they have shown during the engineering work.”
