The Bluebell Railway has announced that it has acquired a London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) bridge parapet plaque. The plaque has been acquired from the East Dulwich to Tulse Hill railway line in South East London.

On the left of the plaque, it features the coat of arms of the LBSCR and on the right, it features Edward Alleyn, born in 1556, and became a very successful Shakespearian actor.

He started buying land in Dulwich in 1605, which became known as the Dulwich Estate. The initials A and C refer to Alleyns College, which has now become known as Dulwich College.

The bridge was constructed in 1866.

Many bridge plaques are still there on bridges around Dulwich. The image below shows the plaque on the over-bridge outside North Dulwich station.

Where can I find the plaque?

You can find the plaque in the Bluebell museum. It is located on Platform 2 of Sheffield Park station. The museum is open when the heritage railway is running trains.
