website

With over 30,000 page views each month, RailAdvent continues to grow.

2018 sees lots of new opportunities to bring even more to the website, in addition to all the existing features, we wanted to share a few of our plans and ideas with you, as well as get some feedback from you.

Share More of Your Media

Following on from the popularity of our Featured Fridays, we are looking to launch a new feature, where you can quickly share a picture or video, without needing to provide the extra details that we needed for Featured Fridays.

More information about this will be shared with you in the next couple of months.

Amazon Alexa – Daily Railway News

We know that many of you already have an Amazon Echo device, and more of you possibly got them as presents at Christmas.

We are in the final stages of testing our new Alexa Skill and will be looking for Beta Testers early in January. Keep an eye out for details on how to become a beta tester, and how to get the latest Railway news on your device.

Get your Amazon Echo below!

Redesign of Menus

We are changing our nested menus of railways into a much easier to access a list of railways on a map.

We have already completed the change for Railways in Wales, and you can see the results here.

New Landing Pages

Our homepage already has split the news into different sections for Standard Gauge, Narrow Gauge, Mainline etc. However, in January, we will be launching dedicated landing pages, so if you have a specific interest you can filter out the other news.

All in one Railway Pages

You have always been able to get all the posts about a particular railway by selecting it from the menu. To enhance this further we are creating dedicated landing pages for each railway. You can see the first ones here, for the Bala Lake Railway, and the Ffestiniog Railway, more to come week by week in 2018.

But! What about…

We hope that you like some of these improvements we have planned for 2018, but have we missed something?

Is there something you think we should be improving or adding to the site?

Why not drop us an email [email protected] and tell us what you think about the site changes or would like to see in the future.
