The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Steam Railway (G&WSR) have now laid down the track all the way to the new Broadway Station, reconnecting the station with the rest of the line.
The Railway’s Class 73 Diesel was the first locomotive into the station in over half a century.
Ever since the line was brought in preservation in 1981, the aim has been to restore train services between Cheltenham and Broadway. Although the original Broadway Station was demolished in November 1963, the dedicated volunteers of the G&WSR have built a new station from scratch.
Pete Waterman (the line’s President) launched “Broadway: The Last Mile” Share Offer in 2016. This has raised £1.3 million towards the project.
This has enabled the finishing work for the new station to be completed and the rest of the track to be laid.
When can I ride a train on the extension?
The G&WSR have set the date of March 30th, 2018 for the first public trains to start running to the station.
