Tim Peake & Spacecraft To Touch Down At The National Railway Museum

The , at both Shildon and York, will host Tim Peake and his spacecraft over the coming few months.

The spacecraft will first visit Locomotion (The National Railway Museum in Shildon). It will arrive on the 22nd November 2017 for a two month stay.

National Railway Museum at York will host the Spacecraft next. It will arrive on the 7th January 2018 and stay for around 2 months.

Visitors to either museum will be able to take part in a virtual reality spacecraft to see what its like to be an astranaut.

The Soyuz TMA-19M descent module will allow you to feel what a 400km high speed descent feels like.

The Soyuz is the first flown, manned spacecraft in the UKs space collection.

The capsule is visiting only SEVEN other locations on its tour across the UK. The final venue is yet to be decided, a competition is running. Entrants need to have venues submitted by December 1st to be in with a chance.

Whats there?

Thanks to the Science Museum Group and Samsung, visitors will be able have a 360 degree look inside the capsule. (Note: Must be 13 years old or above)

Other Information

As ever, both museums are free to enter. Although the spacecraft will cost £5.

Spaces will be limited and cant be pre-booked. We recommend asking the museum for availability on your day of travel. The museum is open 10am-4pm each day.
