London Midland has announced that is investing over £380,000 across the network to improve facilities for cyclists who cycle to the station.
New cycle hubs are part of a programme of works. This will see 304 new parking spaces for cycles provided at Bletchley, Northampton, Watford, and Walsall.
Cyclists will soon also have access to Pumps and Puncture Repair equipment to keep them on the go.
The aim of this is clear – leave the car at home and cycle to the station!
New systems will tell you real-time information with regards to space. CCTV will also be installed to keep your pride and joy safe.
The train operating company recently sponsored the inaugural Velo Birmingham Cycling Event. The partnership has also been nominated for a national Cycle-Rail Award.
What did the officials say?
Richard Brooks, commercial director at London Midland, said: “Our aim is to provide simply better journeys for all of our passengers and investing in cycling infrastructure across our network is part of that. Cycling has become increasingly popular across the country and we wanted to make sure that the facilities were in place to allow people to leave their bikes at the station in a safe and secure environment.”
