On the 22nd September 2017, Virgin Trains released its new uniform that staff will start to wear on board trains, with some help from a four legged friend – Jake The Dog
The new look uniform is body neutral for every gender, whatever the shape or size. They will be rolled across both Virgin Trains West Coast and Virgin Trains East Coast.
The new uniform was derived from extensive employee surveys and took over two years to finalise. Virgin Trains East Coast’s uniform comes in up to six combinations (6 for women and 4 for men). The Virgin Trains West Coast uniform comes in up to 10 combinations (10 for women and 5 for men).
Trainspotting dog, Jake, who is common sight along the VTEC and VTWC routes, joined in the photoshoot by having his own personalised uniform made for him. Jake has become part of the Virgin family, joining in with staff giving customers a welcoming bark and wag.
Neil McNamara, who is Jake’s owner, said “Jake’s always had a love and fascination for Virgin’s trains, he doesn’t bark for any other! His daily trip to the station is a real highlight for him. Over nine years he’s become a mascot for the regular passengers and we’re excited for him to show off his special uniform.”
