Coming up this evening is the Penultimate episode of Paddington 24/7 on Channel 5 at 9pm as crews battle to re-rail a HST which has derailed.
The HST derailed as it left London Paddington and meant passengers had to be evacuated.
No body was injured but the derailment meanty a platform was taken out of use and meant delays were inevitable.
The rerail took 10 hours to complete and allowed the Network Rail Orange Army ro access the track and repair the damage after the derailment.
Jane – Network Rail’s Rail Incident Officer
Jane, who was in charge of the incident, said: “It was a team effort with everyone playing their part in ensuring the job was done as quickly and safely as possible. Derailments are rare but they pose a real challenge as moving a train delicately back onto the track is no easy task. Then once that is done you have the unknown quantity of what the damage to the track is.
She added “Everyone pulled together and in the end everyone can be proud of their achievements as we reopened the platform as early as possible. I hope people watch the documentary and get a better understanding of what Network Rail does and the range of challenges we face at all times of day.”
The episode will be on Channel 5 tonight at 9 and the last episode of the series will aire next week.
