Channel 4 have announced they have commissioned a new railway series which will be presented by train enthuasist Peter Snow.
The series will present the story of restoring iconic railway carriages.
Peter snow is a life long train enthuasiast and he will celebrate the great history of Britain through the restoration of four railway carriages.
The carriages will all come from a different era of train travel.
He will be joined by Henry Cole who will, together, explore the passenger experience with historical memoribillia from the past.
Each of the episodes will see a carriage restored by specialists. Each carriage will start as a derelict shell and will end the programe as fully restored coaches.
The programme will cover 100 years of railway history starting with the 1860s and includes a Royal Saloon used by Queen Victoria.
Also at the end of each programme, the restored carriage will be put back on the rails and hauled by a locomotive from the era of the carriage.
At the end of the series, all four carriages will be coupled up and hauled by a locomotive (tbc) in a ‘train through time’ driven by Peter Snow – fulfilling a dream of his.
The series was commissioned by Lizi Wootton for Channel 4. It will be produced by Jacqueline Hewer for Brown Bob Productions.
