The worlds newest steam locomotive, Lyn, is set to steam at the steam gala. The locomotive will be haul passengers for the first time in North Devon.

The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway are holding their annual steam gala on September 30 & October 1st 2017, where Lyn will be taking passengers and freight along the mile-long railway in North Devon.

The 762 Club – a registered charity – was formed in 2009 to build Lyn for operation at the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway for operation on the new Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Eight years later, LYN is complete and will be launched at the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Autumn Steam Gala on 30 September 2017.

Alan Keef Locomotive Works Ltd are responsible for the work, which has involved having the appearance of the original, which is in the condition that it returned from a rebuild at Eastleigh works in 1929.

New build Lyn plus other engines will be in steam, marquee attractions, Real Ale, Barbecue, miniature train rides and much more is to be had at the steam gala.
