This weekend, the will celebrate 50 years since the meeting which meant railway was opened as a preserved railway.

A special timetable will be in operation with 9 departures to Stonehenge each day, with 11 steam locomotives in action.

Locos

Visiting locos for the gala:

  • Patrick Keef’s 1924 Bagnall 0-4-0 “Woto”
  • Recently restored Kerr Stuart 0-4-0 “Diana” built in 1909
  • Nick Williams’ Andrew Barclay 0-4-0 “Jack” built in 1925
  • Replica Kerr Stuart 0-40 “Jennie” built in 2008
  • A special visitor from Leighton Buzzards twinned railway in France, the Froissy-Cappy-Dompierre Railway.

Resident locomotives for the gala:

  • De Winton 0-4-0 vertical boiler loco “Chaloner” built in 1877
  • Baguley 0-4-0 loco “Rishra” built in 1921
  • O&K 0-4-0 loco “P C Allen” of 1913
  • 0-6-0 O&K “Elf”
  • O&K 0-6-0 loco “Pedemoura” of 1924
  • Baldwin 4-6-0T WDLR No. 778 of 1917
  • Andrew Barclay 0-6-0 “Doll” of 1919

 

Along with the passenger trains, freight trains are running too, which shows what the railway was opened to do, which was to carry sand from Stonehenge Works.

There is also hoped to be a parade with all the locomotives at Pages Park station, this is going to happen on Saturday 30th September at approximately 17.00
