To Celebrate Churnet Valley Railway‘s 25th Anniversary, they are holding a Gala over 3 days, starting on Friday the 20th of October and finishing on Sunday the 22th of October.
Resident Locos taking part in the Gala are: American S160 class no. 5197; Polish TKh class no. 2944 “Hotspur” (depending when repairs have been completed) and Diesel class 33 no. 33103 “Sophie” (Friday only).
On top of resident locos, visiting locos include: GWR Manor no. 7820 “Dinmore Manor” courtesy of owners Dinmore Manor Locomotive Ltdn and the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway and GWR 42XX no. 4277 courtesy of owners Dartmouth Steam Railway & River Boat Company.
GWR 42XX No. 4277
This will be 4277’s first visit away from home Railway of Dartmouth. Also, permission has been received by Churnet Valley Railway to repaint 4277 in BR Black livery with early crest. This permission being accepted mainly due to 4277 only has 6 months left on its current boiler ticket.
Main events of the Gala include a 7820 and 4277 pulling a 10 coaches up steep gradients to Ipstones Loop.
I hope to attend this gala, as it will be the first time i have visited the line and also the locos attending.
