The 25 and 26 of February saw Nene Valley Railway‘s “Bulleid 50” event. This featured home-based, newly overhaul 34081 “92 Squadron” (running without nameplates) and visitor 34053 “Sir Keith Park”, which was visiting from the Seven Valley Railway and courtesy of Southern Locomotives Ltd.
73050 “City of Peterborough”, Nene Valley’s flagship locomotive, was on display on the turntable at Wansford Station. 73050’s overhaul is due to start soon.
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of steam hauled services on the Southern Region in 1967. Nene Valley’s “Bulleid 50” event is the first of many events, throughout this year, celebrating the 50th anniversary. We will be updating our Events Calendar with the Nene Valley Railways events soon!
34081 and 34053 show the two main designs of the Bulleid Light Pacifics. 34081 as Bulleid originally designed the class and 34053 as the rebuilt form, designed by Jarvis, adopting a similar design to the BR Standard Locomotives.
