A1 No. 60163 Tornado is set to return to the Nene Valley Railway in 2017 to help celebrate the railways 40th Anniversary.
In February 2017, Tornado hauled the first passenger services on a timetabled service over the Settle and Carlisle line, which was used by more than 5,500 people. You can see our video of Tornado on the Settle and Carlisle below.
60163 Tornado will be hauling the Nene Valley Railways ‘Jolly Fisherman’ Diner Train during her visit to the Cambridgeshire railway.
Want to drive Tornado? Well you can! Courses available from 21st April to the 24th April.
The Pacific locomotive isn’t the only one taking part in the celebrations, the Nene Valley Railway will be welcome No. 46100 Royal Scot to the line between 2nd and 4th of June. The locomotive will run alongside Deltic No. 55022 Royal Scots Grey (who will be running as 55018 Ballymoss)
What does the Operations Director of the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust say?
Graeme Bunker, who is Operations Director at the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, said “We are delighted to once again be visiting our friends at the Nene Valley Railway. It provides a great opportunity to get up close to Tornado, and for those who wish to book a footplate experience course. What better way is there to celebrate St. George’s Day than travelling on a steam train, hauled by a Royal Train locomotive through beautiful countryside?”
