The Penrhyn Quarry Railway (PQR) has announced it is to receive a Steam Locomotive for the 2017 running season.
Steam Locomotive Fernilee visited the railway back in June 2016 for their Evolution of Transport event, where Fernilee was visiting alongside ‘Winifred’ (From the Ffestiniog Railway / National Trust) and Chaloner (From the Leighton Buzzard Railway).
Fernilee’s owner John has very kindly agreed for the locomotive to come back and operate on the PQR for the 2017 season.
Fernilee will arrive at the PQR, in Bethesda, in early May 2017 and is hoped it will stay for the remainder of the season.
For the first time since opening, the railway, which is the oldest Narrow Gauge Railway in Wales, is hoping that they will be able to run more Steam Services from May onwards, whereas, previously, only at special events is where Steam took over from the resident diesels.
Steam locomotive ‘Gwynedd’ will then be joining ‘Fernilee’ at the PQR in August (From the Bressingham Steam Railway)
