Treat Your Mum This Mothers Day – Take A Train Ride

With Mothers Day just around the corner (6th March 2016) it can be difficult to find the perfect present to show your mum you love her!

Why not take her on a train ride! Many railways around the UK are running special trains on Mothers Day to help you to make it a perfect day!

Here are some railways running special trains to give you some ideas!

The Vale of Rheidol Railway in Aberystwyth, Mid Wales are running trains throughout the weekend, and you treat your mums to afternoon tea at Devils Bridge.

The railway runs through some of the best scenery that Mid Wales has to offer – as it climbs from the seaside town of Aberystwyth, to the village of Devils Bridge, why not break your journey at walk around the waterfalls and look at the three tier bridge!

The East Lancs Railway, in Bury, Lancashire – have many ideas to make sure your on the right track to getting the perfect gift. Gifts can be purchased in advance for dates to suit you. Whether she’s a budding photographer, and she’d love a photography course, or whether your mum is into ale, there’s a Ale Trail, included is a hearty pub lunch, or whether she wants to drive a train! There’s something for everyone!

The railway runs from Rawtenstall to Heywood and covers 12 miles. So this would make a lovely day out for you and your Mum.

The Talyllyn Railway is offering a Mothering Sunday Lunch at their Kings Licensed Café at Tywyn Wharf. Prices are 2 Courses for £11.95 and 3 Courses for £13.95. Book a meal and receive a FREE train ride on the Mothering Sunday Special from Tywyn to Brynglas. If you want a train only, prices are £5 for Adults, £2 for Children. Otherwise, normal fares apply on other trains running throughout the day.

The railway runs from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol, along the line that used to operate only for the purpose of carrying the slate from the mines at Nant Gwernol/ Abergynolwyn down to the port at Tywyn.

Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway are running Mothers Day Specials on Sunday 6th March, enjoy and train ride and a cream tea. Suitable to all ages, drinks include tea, coffee and orange juice. The railway is based near Skipton in Yorkshire and runs from Embsay to Bolton Abbey passing by some of the great scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.
