Throwback Thursdays – Episode 13 – Llangollen Railway

Our 13th Episode of ‘Throwback Thursdays’ see us travel back to August 2014, and sees us visit the .

The train featured is the Wickham 109 DMU. This is the only one left in the world and was restored by the Llangollen Railway from scrap condition.

The Wickham DMU runs on most operating days, and sometimes runs alongside a steam engine. The DMU also runs the first and last trains of the day on busy days. To check the timetable, click here

The Llangollen Railway is a 10 mile long heritage standard gauge railway in Denbighshire, Mid Wales. It is the longest standard gauge railway in Wales and runs trains throughout the year.

The Llangollen Railway was part of the Ruabon – Barmouth Line, before it was part of the Beeching Cuts. The railway is extending the line to Corwen and in 2014/2015, Corwen East station opened.
