Class 40 No. 40135 will be staying at Severn Valley Railway (SVR) for a 2 year period, working in both the 2018 and 2019 Seasons.
40135’s first appearance on the Line will be for the upcoming Spring Diesel Festival in May, joining the big variety of locomotives already confirmed.
The primary reason for the engine staying at SVR is that it’s fitted with Steam Heating Equipment, allowing 40135 to heat carriages in the cold Winter months.
The Class 40 will also be available for a number of Diesel Footplate Experiences this Summer, the dates being the 9th of July and 19th and 20th of August.
History of Class 40 40135
40135 is a resident of the East Lancashire Railway and has seen good use on the line at the many Diesel Galas. This Class 40 entered traffic for British Rail in 1961 and saw it carry goods and passengers all the way up until it was taken out of service in 1986.
