Southeastern to add more trains to its fleetBy the end of next year, Southeastern will have added 13 more Class 377 “City Beam” trains to its operating fleet.
-
Does that mean Southeastern will also keep the Class 377/5 that were transferred from Thameslink/First Capital Connect when the Class 700 Desiro City came into service in 2016.
-
The Class 377 are Electrostar built and manufactured by Bombardier (now Alstom). I would think that Southeastern should keep the Class 377/5 since they inherited them from Thameslink (previously First Capital Connect).
-
The Class 379s aren’t dual voltage and I do expect to see them coming into service in December that Great Northern will use them. It’s nice to see them coming back rather than sitting there doing nothing… Read more

New Bi-Mode trains on the cards as Grand Central submits track access applicationOpen-access train operator Grand Central has applied to the rail regulator to extend its track access for Yorkshire and the North East beyond 2027.
-
I think it will be Hitachi to manufacture the Class 8xx Bi-mode for Grand Central as the Intercity Express Trains/AT300s are capable of reaching speeds up to 125mph on the East Coast Main Line.
-
CAF who are to manufacture the Class 897 Tri-mode Civity trains for LNER to replace the Class 91 Intercity 225 rolling stocks and to start introducing them in service in 2026. Perhaps they could build… Read more

New names and colours for London Overground lines tomorrowNew names and colours for London Overground lines will be gradually introduced between Wednesday, 20th November and Monday, 25th November.
-
Why not keep the current names but add the colours scheme to the 6 lines. I don’t seem why that renaming all 6 London Overground lines is going to help people navigate across London whilst using the London Overground.

Britain's first Tri-mode trains enter service in WalesOn 18 November, tri-mode trains started operating passenger services on part of the South Wales Metro, the first time such trains had run in the UK.
-
Stadler who manufactured the Class 231 and Class 756 FLIRTs could perhaps manufacture more FLIRTs for the UK. Including the North of England, Southwest England, Scotland and to replace the older diesel trains… Read more

Construction of HS2 ‘green tunnel’ reaches halfway markConstruction of a 700-metre-long ‘green tunnel’ being constructed for HS2 in Warwickshire has now reached the halfway stage.
-
Looking at the photograph, did it actually need a tunnel at all? Presumably "the chattering classes" didn't want to see a railway line passing near them.. There won't be much of a view from HS2 for quite a… Read more

Here is how you can get Two For One on Scottish train tickets next weekFor two weeks starting 18 November, customers travelling between Ayr and Stranraer can purchase two tickets for the price of one.
-
Perhaps the Stranraer branch line from Ayr could be electrified so that ScotRail can use the Class 334, Class 380 and Class 385 to Stranraer.
