(The Hare and the Tortoise) Ive mentioned before that the eight drive wheel duck or Z class steam engines firebox could burn as white as the Sun on the hottest day! As it would settle down to 5 or 10 MPH for that hard slog up St Davids Bank with the heaviest of trains! Compare that to todays ‘Parker’ probes orbits of our Sun (The Hare)?…

The final service on 22 Dec ’24 on the Middleton Railway. Santa was very busy with all his admirers. Darkness was overtaking the scene hence the glow from the firebox underneath the cab.

(?) Cant think what this was sposed to be? Got bit bored with the A4! I started on the boiler! So maybe chop two double bogeys off this instead? Half its bunker, Add side water tanks and bingo, A standard 82 3mt branch line engine i once loved! Non saved! Left water tank obscures the reversing gear come valve stroke, Three fire irons lay on top…
