A fantastic surprise on Chat Moss this morning. I had expected Mayflower, not checked for an update, and then Blue Peter thundered through!

These are some of the stills from Blue Peter’s test run yesterday. One of these was set as the still on the YouTube film, but for some reason it did not register. Seen here at Winwick near Warrington, it was a great sight, and I think it may have been my first sighting of Blue Peter.

I had a fantastic day on the East Lancashire Railway today. The ability of all our Heritage Railways to capture nostalgia and attract old ‘fools’ like me, is emphasised by wonderful days like today. It was like my childhood relived when my late Mother used to take me to my local station at Worsley, and then to the NCB yard at Roe…
