(Rock n Rolle to all shook up) Ive spoke of early 60s before, But that’s all lost in the ether of time! With the change of Loco’Stop layout! A Temple Meads run east toward London? (Steam), A big station with two fast through roads? (Ok, I forget)! And as usual i join driver to view a very busy platform! The new dress! Attire! The short mini skirt whatever now in fashion! Dont remember any yellow platform markings back then? When a young man about 30 ish steps forward and falls in front of us? I holler, as my mate destroys the vacuum! So a busy platform views us two instead of their intended carriage! I walk forward and jump down to the track! (Nothing) I work back the up fast line till i find him under our cab! Completely still, No arms poking out? ‘Tell Driver’ then uncouple, Burn my face when parting the steam heating pipes? Must be 30odd watching so i blink hard and turn off my engines supply side! Uncouple and a passenger re-lays my need to my driver, Who gently runs ahead while i walk on my knees over the sleepers while peering underneath, (To kneel on ballast hurts like hell)? Praying he don’t flop a leg out, A whole long (Very long) tender! Until he is presented to me and an Ambulance crew who turn up and clamber down to join me thank God. And you pay no heed from your knees on your railway sleeper when looking up to a flock of mini skirted females clapping applause! Your Rock n Rolles spent and your all shook up!

Blimy that was quick Michael! Dr Beeching ordered me east to Bristol? A large GW Railway Hostel house in Cotham with 30 or 40 fellow railwaymen and long distance crews? A new small end i fitted to my Arial Huntmaster twin for the trip! A fireman’s fancy of BSA, Norton or triumph? Dream of Trophy but afford T21! Lol. Some story there? But not for Rail Advent!
