I have heard that the Haverton to Preston Bitumen tanker Train services (6M43 and 6E43) and the return are to stop at the end November this year.
Apparently there are declining volumes but it would take around 30 lorries to have replaced todays delivery, and cause 5 or 6 times the emissions of the train.
They are rumours that the reliability of the traction used are causing too many problems, although today’s problem was down to poor track conditions (slippery rails), which Colas has no control over.
