An opportunity to drive miniature trains all day has become available at Newby Hall near Ripon, in North Yorkshire.
Newby Hall is looking for a full-time train driver and engineer to run the well-known narrow gauge railway, totalling 1.2km in length that winds through beautiful gardens along the River Ure.
The successful applicant will drive steam, battery and gas-powered locomotives as well as being in charge of the train, track and station maintenance.
Around 50,000 passengers travel on the railway each year, so someone who loves being around people would be great!
Stuart Gill, Operations Director at Newby Hall, said: “This is a chance to perhaps turn your hobby or childhood dream into a career, particularly if you feel your job aspirations have been shunted into the sidings. We need someone who has a real passion for trains and engineering, preferably with previous relevant experience, and they also need to be great at managing our team of amazing railway volunteers.”
As well as running trains, the successful applicant will also be responsible for the upkeep of the interactive Tarantella water fountain in the children’s play area.
For more information, please see Newby Hall’s website.

Newby Hall, Ripon sure has Grand Beautifully Blooming Gardens of Surrounding Beauty within-between… And home to such A Pleasent Little Railway… which I’m sure Newby Hall must be ever so proud to have.
I also Believe the River Ure flows nearby.
