The 6880 Betton Grange Society has announced that they have reached an agreement in principle to relocate 5952 Cogan Hall from the Llangollen Railway to Tyseley Locomotive Works and to make TLW a permanent home for 6880 Betton Grange.
The Society has said that they “look forward to taking a fully operational Betton Grange to Llangollen to haul trains there in the future.”
Arrangements are being made to allow unrestored GWR ‘Hall’ No. 5952 Cogan Hall, currently based at the Llangollen Railway, to join 6880 Betton Grange at Tyseley.
The priority is to complete the final assembly of 6880 Betton Grange, which Tyseley Locomotive Works has been commissioned to complete. A targetted steaming date has been set for the autumn.
The focus will then turn to construct a replica Collett tender, a chassis is already owned for this.
An opportunity has been taken to cosmetically restore Cogan Hall for display at Tyseley, with the Betton Grange Society inviting interest to help start the restoration of this locomotive.
The Society said “The 6880 Betton Grange Society wish to put on record its appreciation to the Llangollen Railway for providing a home for the project during its earlier stages and wish the railway well for the future.
The 6880 Betton Grange Society are grateful to Tyseley Locomotive Works for providing home for existing and future projects.”
