In line with the new national lockdown and the Stay at Home guidance, has announced that they are going to introduce a new temporary timetable.

The new timetable will come into force from the 25th January 2021 after the operator saw an increase in staff unavailability due to .

From today, EMR’s intercity train service will operate with reduced capacity, with shorter trains running many services.

From Monday 25th January 2021, a new timetable will be introduced on EMR Regional train services with some off-peak services being removed from the timetable.

The operator says that the changes are only expected to be in place alongside the guidance on staying at home, but expect to be able to quickly reintroduce the services that were removed

You can find all the changes to train services by visiting the East Midlands Railway website.

Will Rogers, Managing Director of East Midlands Railway, said: “Working with our partners across the railway industry, we have taken the logical step to temporarily reduce our capacity and timetable.”

“During these unprecedented times, everyone who can do so is urged to stay at home. For those who need to continue to travel we will continue to protect those services which we know are relied upon.”

“We all have a role to play and I would urge those who are still travelling to follow the rules in place to keep us all safe. Please wear a face covering, keep a distance and limit your journeys as much as possible.”

  1. EMR (East Midlands Railway) should inherit more Class 170 Turbostars from ScotRail, Transport for Wales and West Midlands Railway with some from Southern (Class 171) to add more capacity on their services across the East Midlands.

Including using the Class 170s on Nottngham-Worksop, Nottingham-Norwich via Ely, Nottingham-Skegness, Nottingham-Grantham and Peterborough-Lincoln. And the EMR Class 158s to be cascaded to ScotRail, Northern, Transport for Wales, South Western Railway or Great Western Railway.

  2. Perhaps East Midlands Railway could operate a service to Stansted Airport from Nottingham, Derby and Leicester via Peterborough and Ely taking over the CrossCountry service. And to extend the Norwich-Nottingham service via Ely and Peterborough to Derby, Leicester and Sheffield.
