The Churnet Valley Railway has announced that they have postponed their Border Explorer Weekend due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Initially, the Borders Explorer was due to run in April 2020 but was postponed due to the national lockdown imposed back in March. The Churnet Valley Railway had originally rescheduled this to run in November 2020.
The aim of The Borders Explorer was to run on as much track as possible.
The Churnet Valley Railway arranged a meeting with Network Rail; however, due to the coronavirus, it has not been possible to have the meeting to discuss permissible operation for the special.
This postponement means that the Churnet Valley Railway want to attempt the weekend again in early 2021, and hope to offer the maximum amount of mileage.
People booked on the trains will be moved across, and passengers will be contacted by the railway soon.
