Network Rail has released details about travel disruption expected later this year when they begin work on the railway bridge near Rainford, St Helens, Merseyside.
To allow all refurbishment work required to be completed, the A570 Rainford Bypass will experience some lane closures and also full road closures between Mid-July and Late-October.
These are expected to be as follows.
Slow Lane Closure
- Monday 20th of July 2020 to Monday 7th of September 2020 – between Mossborough Island roundabout and Lodge Lane/Bushy Lane
Fast Lane Closure
- Monday 7th of September 2020 to Monday 26th of October 2020 – between Mossborough Island roundabout and Lodge Lane/Bushy Lane
Full Road Closure
- 5 pm Saturday 18th of July to 6 am Monday 20th of July
- 5 pm Saturday 25th July to 6 am Monday 27th of July
- 5 pm Saturday 5th of September to 6 am Monday 7th of September
- 5 pm Saturday 12th of September to 6 am Monday 14th of September
- 5 pm Saturday 17th of October to 6 am Monday 19th of October
- 5 pm Saturday 24th of October to 6 am Monday 26th of October
Signage will be in place to direct road traffic, with pedestrians and cyclists access allowed throughout the work’s duration. Some work will be done at night as well as the day time.
Scheme Project Manager for Network Rail Nathaly Oshodin said: “I’d like to thank residents and road users in advance for their patience while we complete this major upgrade to the railway bridge over the Rainford bypass. The Great North Rail Project investment will secure the bridge’s future for road users below and improve the reliability of rail journeys for rail passengers above.”
