The has opened an investigation into an incident at station on the Elizabeth Line when a passenger’s hand was trapped in the closing doors of a train.

The incident, known colloquially as a ‘trap and drag accident’, happened at around 00:07 on the morning of Sunday, 24th November 2024 when a train started moving with a passenger’s hand still trapped in the doors.

The passenger had been attempting to board the train, and was forced to run for several metres alongside the train before being pulled away by an alert member of the railway staff working on the platform.

After nearby passengers alerted the train driver to what was happening, the driver stopped the train after moving approximately 17 metres.

Fortunately, the passenger was not seriously injured during the incident but did sustain minor injuries.
