Over the Christmas and New Year Period, a special timetable is being implemented by Merseyrail to keep people moving around the Liverpool City Region during the festive period.
Except for Christmas Day, when there will be no services, train services will run every including Boxing Day to help those attending events or heading to the sales.
Elsewhere in most parts of the UK, there will be no there will be no train services on Boxing Day, Thursday, 26th December.
To help get people into the Christmas spirit, Merseyrail has arranged a number of special events including choirs, carol singers, and other surprises.
Christmas Eve, Tuesday, 24th December
- Normal services will operate throughout the day, but the last trains will depart around 20:30.
Christmas Day, Wednesday, 25th December
- No services will operate.
Boxing Day, Thursday, 26th December
- A service will operate from approximately 09:00 to 18:00.
- Trains will not stop at all stations, but only at selected stations across the network.
- As with the Grand National earlier this year, extra services will run between Liverpool and Aintree in connection with the Boxing Day race meeting.
Friday, 27th to Monday, 30th December
- Normal services will operate.
New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, 31st December
- Normal services will operate throughout the day, but the last trains will depart around 20:00.
New Year’s Day, Wednesday, 1st January
- A 30-minute Sunday service will run across all lines.
