The has revealed that a 21-year-old man has been jailed after stabbing a member of rail staff.

Jonathan Daniel pleaded guilty to GBH and having a knife.

On the 20th of October 2023, a member of staff at Charing Cross asked Daniel to move away from the entrance as he was causing a disturbance.

Mr Daniel became increasingly aggressive and as the victim turned away to ask for assistance, he was stabbed in the back by Mr Daniel before he ran away with the knife in his hand.

He was later spotted by police in Leicester Square, still carrying the knife he used to carry out the attack.

“This was a horrific attack on someone who was just doing their job, helping to keep the railway network and those who use it safe.

“The victim suffered a broken rib and bleeding around the lung and remains traumatised by the events of that afternoon.

“There is no excuse for carrying knives or any other weapons on the rail network and we continue to work tirelessly to remove them from the railway.”

Investigating officer DC Gemma Lee
