As Christmas approaches, there will be a festive seasonal change to the motive power on the Corris Railway Santa Specials.
For the first time in its career, the 2023 new build No.10 is scheduled to be the main locomotive to operate trains this Christmas season at Corris, replacing No.7, which has performed the role for the most part of the last two decades.
For those wishing to travel behind or witness Falcon class No.10 on its debut Santa services, the first train it’s scheduled to haul will be the 11:00 from Corris on Saturday 7th December.
From here on it will also operate the 12:30, 2:00 and 3:30 later in the day and the same four services again on Sunday 8th December, before running over the following weekends on other services.
Tickets for Santa Specials at Corris are very popular and shouldn’t be missed, with prices at £7.50 for adults and £10 per child.
Accompanying the New Build engine, each train will also be formed of new build carriages, which in total can hold up to 70 people.
This will offer the most nostalgic Christmas experience harking back to the 1930s, which was the last time a similar engine and rolling stock last ran on the Corris line in the month of December.
Each journey will last one hour and include a round trip from Corris to Maespoeth Junction, where children will meet Santa and be given Christmas presents and refreshments before their trip back to Corris, where passengers can visit the museum and gift shop which will both be open.
