The Corris Railway is working to introduce first-class travel for the first time in nearly 100 years.

The society was founded back in 1966, and work on a new carriage is progressing well with a hoped-for introduction of the first-class carriage in 2026.

The carriage, number 24, is being built at Maespoeth Junction sheds and by the end of October, it is hoped that the coach will be fully primed and ready for painting by the end of October.

Work recently has focussed on completing the vestibule panels and etched glass for the end of the first class compartment.

Ventilators for the clerestory roof have been produced, with carriage 24 being the second of the newly built fleet to have the roof.

Funding for the new carriage has come from the Corris Railway Society and is being built by volunteers.
