Major Disruption: London – Scotland trains cancelled as signal failure blocks Scottish railway line

UPDATE 12:00 – Lines have now reopened. Major is expected until 1 pm.


UPDATE: 10:50 – A signalling fault at Tring is now causing disruption between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central


UPDATE 09:12 – Disruption has now been increased to 75 minutes and has now been declared as major disruption expected. Normal running is expected after 12:00.


A signalling fault in the area has blocked all lines, with and advising passengers of delays and cancellations.

Avanti says that its London Euston – Glasgow Central / Edinburgh as well as trains between Wolverhampton and Scotland are affected by the fault.

TransPennine Express says trains between Manchester / Liverpool and Scotland will be affected.

Trains are expected to be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 50 minutes.

Avanti West Coast says ticket acceptance is now in place with CrossCountry, LNER, ScotRail and TransPennine Express.

TPE says that tickets can be used on Avanti services, CrossCountry and TPE services between Manchester and York.

Disruption is expected until 11:15 – please check National Rail for the latest details.
