Over the summer, we spent a couple of weeks in North Wales and decided to spend a couple of hours one day at Tan-y-Bwlch on the .

The timetable for the day was a busy one, with plenty of trains to see, and the weather was perfect.

First up in the was , which was hauling The Mountain Spirit, which is the railway’s flagship service running from Porthmadog to and return. The Double Fairlie is seen arriving, taking on water and then departing with a well-loaded train.

Next up into the station, which is around half-way between Porthmadog and Blaenau Ffestiniog, is , another Double Fairlie, which was hauling The Woodland Wanderer.

The Woodland Wanderer was introduced after COVID pandemic and runs from Porthmadog to Tan-y-Bwlch, providing families with time to explore before returning back to the seaside.

David Lloyd George is filmed arriving into the station and then shunts across to the down line before running around its train.

With David Lloyd George coupled back to its set, Blanche could then arrive into Tan-y-Bwlch with The Quarrymen, which is a fairly new service running from the slate-topped hills of Blaenau Ffestiniog down to Porthmadog and then returning back to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The well-loaded service passes David Lloyd George and then takes on water before heading up the hill to Blaenau Ffestiniog.

A lot of people we see out at these visits, and indeed who read our website, ask us what cameras we use to film the videos, this particular video was all shot on the recently released DJI Osmo Pocket 3, which has great quality for such a small ‘pocketable’ camera. You can find out more information about our camera gear on our dedicated page here, and view the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 on Amazon by clicking here.
