Birmingham railway line reopens after fire breaks out

UPDATE: Lines have now reopened. Disruption is now expected until 9 am (13/10)


A number of trains are being cancelled or changed due to a fire near the railway in the Tipton area.

All lines have been closed due to the fire, with major disruption expected until 5 pm.

Avanti West Coast, whose London Euston to Blackpool North / Glasgow Central / Edinburgh train services are being affected, says that passengers can use and Railway services via any reasonable route to complete journeys.

CrossCountry says that passengers can use Avanti West Coast, London Underground, South Western Railway (between London Waterloo and Southampton Airport Parkway), and services via any reasonable route.

/ West Midlands Railway say that ticket acceptance is in place with Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, National Express West Midlands and West Midlands Metro.

LNR has also been joined by Transport for Wales in providing rail replacement buses to help passengers get to where they need to be.
