HVAC overhauls on the Class 165s in service with Great Western Railway will be carried out by Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems Ltd.
HVAC, or Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, work will take place at Gemini’s facility in Wolverton and has seen extra staff recruited to meet the demands of the contract.
The extra staff will work at both Wolverton and at a facility in Calne in Wiltshire.
The 165 fleet consists of 20 two-car and 16 three-car units and each train has four units per vehicle, meaning a total of 352 units will be overhauled as part of the contract.
“This is great news for Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems. This contract solidifies our position in the HVAC overhaul market and allows us to recruit more staff at two locations.”
Paul Battams, Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems (UK) Ltd Business Development Manager
