At the Severn Valley Railway‘s recent Autumn Steam Gala, one of the railway’s volunteers was raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The fundraising follows the loss of Keith Hall, one of the Severn Valley Railway’s locomotive drivers, who died in June 2024.
Following the sad passing, close friend Rod Derry wanted to do something in tribute to Keith.
With MNDA supplied collection buckets, Rod enlisted the help of SVR colleagues to help raise money for the charity at the Autumn Steam Gala.
In total, £1,500 was raised and Phillip Clayton from the MNDA Hereford and Worcester Branch visited the SVR to receive the funds.
‘I saw a great friend, who was supremely fit and active, destroyed by a cruel illness. So much research is needed before the outlook for sufferers will improve. Keith died a few months short of his 80th birthday, and we lost a fine engineer, a mentor and friend.’
