Lockers operated by the parcel delivery service Quadient are being installed at 50 railway stations throughout the North of England.

Installation of the lockers follows a deal between train operator Northern which manages the stations and Quadient, which is a worldwide locker operators with parcel lockers at more than 20,800 locations around the world.

Quadient has a growing network of smart lockers across the UK called Parcel Pending.

Major carriers including Royal Mail, DPD, Evri and UPS use them for delivery drop offs, as well as new start ups such as Keynest.

Lockers already installed

Lockers have already been installed at the following railway stations:

• Apperley in West Yorkshire,
• Bamford in Derbyshire,
• Burnley in Lancashire,
• Clifton in Greater Manchester,
• Euxton in Lancashire,
• Penistone in South Yorkshire.

To be installed by the end of September

Lockers will be installed by the end of September at:

• Adlington, Disley and Lostock Gralam in Cheshire
• Hathersage in Derbyshire
• Bolton, Hag Fold, Hyde North and Humphrey Park in Greater Manchester
• Burnley in Lancashire
• Ulleskelf and Lealholm in North Yorkshire
• Alnmouth in Northumberland

Future installations

• A further 30 locations across the Northern network are currently being identified, with a view to lockers being installed by spring 2025.

Lockers operated by InPost have also been installed at many stations in South East England, and Amazon Hub lockers have been installed at stations managed by Govia Thameslink Railway .
