A person has been hit by a train near Darlington this afternoon, and means that all lines on the East Coast Main Line and the surrounding area are blocked.

Emergency services are still carrying out their work, and means the line is closed, with trains being cancelled or delayed by up to 120 minutes.

It is expected that disruption is to last until the end of the day.

CrossCountry, Lumo, TransPennine Express and London North Eastern Railway all have ticket acceptance in place with the likes of Avanti West Coast, Northern, ScotRail and East Midlands Railway. Please check National Rail Enquiries for the latest.
