Art and crafts enthusiasts will surely be heading to the Mid-Hants Railway over the course of this summer, as art exhibitions are due to be held at the railway.
Along with this, there will be exhibits of artwork, and visitors can participate in ‘en plein air’ painting sessions.
As part of a drive to encourage creativity, the railway will welcome artists from the local area and the Winchester Art Club on 20th & 21st July, artists will be in attendance at each of the four stations, they will be capturing the sights of the railway through their own individual pieces of art.
This will also allow the public the opportunity to witness artists at work and watch as their artworks take shape.
Along with this, The Guild of Railway Artists Exhibition will be taking place at Alresford in The Goods Shed. on the same weekend.
The exhibition will feature some stunning artworks from famous artists in the world of railway art. There will also be the opportunity to purchase some pieces.
A Makers’ Market will also be held at Alresford Station on 20th July and 17th August. With over 20 stands in attendance, this will allow the public to see and purchase locally designed unique pieces of arts and craftwork, most of which will be homemade.
This event will be inspirational to those who are thinking about designing their own pieces of art and crafts.
One other event to be held at Alresford Goods Shed this summer is to be held in partnership with Hampshire Open Studios.
From 17th – 26th August sixteen creative local artists will be displaying and selling their works at a gallery-style event, once again showcasing the best of local creative talent.
“We’re delighted to host this brilliant programme of arts-related events at the railway over the summer. There truly is something for everyone who enjoys arts and crafts”.
“Why not make more of a day of it and take a delightful train ride on our heritage steam trains, or simply stop off for coffee and cake at our West Country Buffet”.
