The Clan Project has released its monthly update showing what work has been carried out on BR Class 6 No. 72010 Hengist.
Eight sandpipe carriers have now been received from the metal cutting supplier, four sand ejectors are found on each side, three on the leading side of the driving wheels, and one for the rear side of the trailing wheel.
Work has now started on machining the two front bogie side plates at CTL Seal.
The hinges for the tender doors are progressing well. These will be welded on to the tender wing plates.
Moving to the assembly area, CTL Seal has fitting bolts to the smokebox saddle area; these are currently only temporary.
The stretcher for the central bogie stretcher has now arrived from the foundry. Bogie Side Plates machining has now been completed.
Another update from the Clan Project and all great to see. Here at RailAdvent, we are looking forward to seeing this project progress in 2020!
