W.H. Davis, Davis Wagon Services and Yellow Rail have decided to join together to create Buckland Rail.

This new company will focus on bogie overhaul, maintenance of freight wagons, and supply of materials.

It is believed that by integrating the three member companies’ services, the group will be able to engage in deeper collaboration and expand pre-existing business partnerships.

Buckland Rail is a subsidiary of Buckland Group, a capital investment firm which specialises in manufacturing and service businesses, such as renewable energy, construction and rail.

Buckland Group sees the creation of Buckland Rail as a strategic move which gives customers one easy interface for accessing the services of its three subsidiary companies.

It now owns 12 sites across the nation, including the multi-service delivery centre at near Mansfield in .

The site is used for both passenger and freight projects, and was used for the construction of 25 JNA-Z box wagons by WH Davis in March of this year, as well as for earlier wagon conversion work.

In total, Buckland Rail is now responsible for the maintenance of 2600 freight wagons, which is one fifth of the UK’s total.

The company’s CEO will be the former managing director of Yellow Rail, Andy Kevins. His previous position will be filled by Paul Cunningham, who joins Yellow Rail from Wabtec.

The newly-formed Buckland Rail replaces W.H. Davis (Holdings) Limited.

This strategic move demonstrates Buckland Group’s commitment to the rail sector enabling the integration of our individual company offerings to both our passenger and freight customers.

Our investment in Buckland Rail enables a far more comprehensive solution to our customer needs, where we will continue to broaden our services offered.

Paul Bragg, Managing Director of Buckland Group

This change is a logical step to ensure our customers continue to have the excellent services we provide as individual companies, whilst also being able to benefit from the closer integration and combined capabilities of the Group.

Andy Kevins, CEO of Buckland Rail
