Over the past year, nine charities in Cornwall have benefitted from funding provided by train operator Cross Country and their Customer and Community Improvement Fund.

The long-distance train operator gave £20,000 and The Cornwall Community Foundation agreed to match this, bringing the total amount allocated to grassroots projects to £40,000.

The funding period commenced in April 2023, following a call for grant applications in July 2022.

During this time, a wide variety of charities have received donations.

One of these includes Get Together Cornwall, an organisation which offers help to the families of those affected by Asperger’s syndrome and autism.

One of the other charities chosen to receive a share of the funding was MCH Wheal Prosper, a day centre which provides various opportunities for adults who have learning or physical disabilities.

CrossCountry and the Cornwall Community Foundation visited these two organisations along with other recipients of the funding earlier this year.

Another group in Cornwall that has benefitted from the funds is Unique Voices, a social enterprise which aims to help protect youngsters from the dangers associated with drug trafficking.

The train operator has also used their fund to help the Crimestoppers organisation in Cornwall.
