The Dartmoor Railway Community Interest Company has announced that they have gone into administration.
This is a very sad time for everyone involved, involving people who run the railway and people in the background.
As this has only just been announced, there is no news on what will happen next for the railway and its workers.
The Dartmoor Railway is 15.5 miles long and runs in Devon, England. Leaving Crediton, the railway runs on the Tarka line to the former Coleford Junction. It then heads west to serve Sampford Courtenay, Okehampton and Meldon – the line from Crediton to Coleford Junction is owned by Network Rail and Aggregate Industries owns the line to Meldon.
The line is leased to the Dartmoor Railway CIC, who operates services and facilitate access to the line for use by other operators, such as Great Western Railway.
Last month, it was announced that both the Weardale Railway and the Dartmoor Railway was up for sale by owners, Iowa Pacific Holdings, based in Chicago.
Everyone’s thoughts at RailAdvent is with the Dartmoor Railway employees who are affected by this news.

Sad to hear, not least because we have been trying for a long time to make contact as we had a present of a voucher for one of the special trains. I don’t suppose anyone one knows any more news or what we can do about our much looked forward to trip – probably nothing! GPB
Yes, Rev Thompson, I agree: Hiding behind the ID of ‘d’ rather than stand up and be recognised is rather like those clever folk who shout obscenities from passing cars. Whoever you are, please have the courage of your convictions. As for the railway, very sad, we can only hope some salvation (sorry, Vicar…) is at hand.
I do not think castigating and name calling those who have put in their time and effort into running this railway serves any constructive purpose and is more of a reflection on the character of those posting.
rght, a good moment for that waffling twit in no.10 to do what he promised and sort out the alternative route to plymouth and cornwall, just like the previous waffling eton twit promised at dawlish. likely to happen? I somehow doubt it.
it needs investment and more likely, steam.
The Wiki page for Iowa Pacific reads very badly. The above post at 8.39 about sums it up.
This is sad day for heritage railways trouble as it is opened by Americans it is only revenue they are interested in and not the history of the line

Mismanaged by a bunch of half wits
But why did it go into administration. This is very sad. 🙁
This is bad news. I used to live in Okehampton and I was looking forward to taking my grandchildren for a trip on this fabulous stretch of the old rsilway line.
