A Deltic is set to be part of the first diesel gala in a number of years at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway this June.
Taking place from the 14th until the 16th June 2024, the railway will welcome Deltic No. 55009 ‘Alycidon’, courtesy of the Deltic Preservation Society.
55009 will be numbered 55013 ‘The Black Watch’ as part of its visit.
Also visiting for the gala will be 45108 and D9537, both visiting thanks to the East Lancashire Railway and the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway respectively.
These visitors will feature in an intensive timetable including evening running.
The home fleet of diesel locomotives will include 37264 and D7628 ‘Sybilla’.
Day tickets will cost £49.50 with an Annual Pass of free return visits included.
If you already have an Annual Pass, entry to the event is included.
“We’ve got some great locomotives lined up for this event, and alongside our home fleet we’ve got more visiting locos for you to ride behind including The Black Watch which we’re really excited to welcome. It’s something a little bit different, and we can’t wait to bring back our popular Diesel Gala for another year.”
Paul Middleton, Director of Mechanical Engineering
