This upcoming weekend, February 10th, and 11th, as well as the subsequent weekend, February 17th and 18th, will see essential engineering works for track replacement in the Trowbridge area of Wiltshire. These works are set to impact the regular operations of Great Western Railway services in the region.
Despite these disruptions, certain routes will continue to operate as scheduled.
These include:
- Swindon to Chippenham and Bath Spa.
- Bath Spa and Gloucester to Cardiff Central.
- Westbury to Portsmouth Harbour and Weymouth.
Rail replacement bus services for the following journeys:
- Bath Spa to Westbury.
- Chippenham to Westbury.
Jordan Welsby, GWR Station Manager for Westbury, Wiltshire and Dorset, said:
“This improvement work forms part of an ongoing programme of maintenance, helping to ensure that we can continue to provide consistent and reliable services.
“We’ll provide rail replacement services between Chippenham and Westbury or Bath Spa and Bradford-on-Avon every hour, and between Bath Spa and Westbury every 30 minutes.
“In addition, First Bus will also allow customers to travel on their D1 buses between Bath and Westbury as well as their D2 or D2X buses between Bath and Frome.
“GWR customers can also travel on CrossCountry and South Western Railway services instead between Cardiff, Bristol or Bath and the South Coast via Reading.
“However, these alternative travel arrangements will make journeys longer, so please do check before you travel.”
Mark Parker, Network Rail’s lead portfolio manager, said:
“We’d like to thank passengers for their patience while we carry out this essential track replacement in the Trowbridge area.
“Once complete, this vital work will enable continued safe and reliable services to run on this popular route for years to come.”
